Following the immediate financial assistance offered to the international aid organisations involved with the initial aftermath of the tsunami by all of the volunteers and members of The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles New Zealand, on January 6, 2005, twenty-five boxes of medical supplies were air-freighted and accompanied by a semi-retired general practitioner who lost family members in Sri Lanka from the Tsunami. These boxes contained swabs, bandages, syringes, needles, gowns and foil containers. The medical supplies were sent with the returning Sri Lankan doctor to be personally handed over to a contact there.
