School supplies, books, bicycles, toys and computers for Cape Town

A 20-foot sea container with school supplies, books, bicycles, toys, sports equipment and computers was sent in October 2003 from members of our group in Great Britain to the Salvation Army in Cape Town. All of the items were distributed to schools and comunity projects around the Cape Town area, the rural Vendaland state in South Africa and even the remote island of St. Helena! The sports equipment was donated to an organisation encouraging talented but disadvantaged athletes.

"I wish that you and the other people involved in collecting the gifts were able to see the looks of excitement and wonder when they received the shoes, stationery, toys etc... They were like kids in a candy store not knowing were to run first.... Many have asked me to thank you and tell you that the gifts were a genuine answer to prayer. You have indeed blessed and touched the lives of so many people." - extract from letter of thanks from Salvation Army, South Africa
