Children in the United Kingdom link with children in Guinea-Bissau

We have worked closely with many schools in the United Kingdom to create links between British students and the children in Guinea-Bissau. The children in the United Kingdom learn about Africa and about Guinea-Bissau in particular. The students send toys, clothing, art supplies and personal messages and drawings to the children of Guinea-Bissau.

Sea container

In July 2004, our members in the United Kingdom sent a full sea container of additional goods collected for Guinea-Bissau, including school equipment (approx. 200,000 pencils), stationery, computers, clothing, toys and medical supplies. The school equipment was donated to schools in rural areas of the country. The medical supplies were distributed to a major hospital in the capital city, Bissau.

Medical supplies, school supplies and tools

The members of The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles of Great Britain have sent boxes of medical supplies, school supplies and toys to Guinea-Bissau. A sea container full of additional medical supplies, computers, school equipment, stationery, clothing, toys and bicycles was shipped in July 2004.

Medical supplies

In early June 2004, The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles of the United Kingdom were successful in contacting an NGO experienced in delivering aid within Guinea-Bissa

Two weeks later, we sent boxes of medical supplies via air courier. The boxes contained bandages, dressings, swabs, cotton wool, syringes, face masks and other medical supplies.

Manufaturers' generosity

Manufacturers of stationery and medical equipment have been generous in offering goods for Guinea-Bissau.
