Kids to Kids packs

The Oneness-Heart Tears and Smiles in New Zealand in 2005 completed its Kids to Kids project which involved hundreds of school children around New Zealand. This project was used as a way for New Zealand children to reach out their hand in friendship to the children of Sri Lanka. Over 600 packs were created and sent the Dilmah Tea Foundation who distributed them to the children in the Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka.

Mobile hospital for children

A mobile hospital for children was sent from the Czech Republic to the southern part of Sri Lanka, for which The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles Czech and Slovak Republics acted as one of the main sponsors. Greatly appreciated by the doctors and coordinators involved, The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles has been invited to assist with on-going support for this valuable on-the-ground effort, and the Sri Lankan Government has requested for this mobile hospital to be active for at least a year.

Medicines and medical supplies

The Czech and Slovak offices sent medicines and medical supplies at a value of US$33,000 to Sri Lanka during weeks following the tsunami disaster, and also collected US$9,000 for an international humanitarian organisation who are active in the region.

Initial effort after the tsunami

The director of The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles in Sri Lanka—a school principal named Jagantha Wanigasooriya—formed a team of three doctors and three nurses and visited different camps for displaced people in the Matara and Galle districts, offering food, medical care and powdered milk for children. This initial effort in the immediate aftermath of the tsunami was made possible by funds sent by The Sri Chinmoy Centres International.
