Water purification tablets

Our French office provided €600 of water purification tablets for distribution by the Sri Lankan Government.

Tinned and dried food

From England The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles immediately supplied a quantity of tinned and dried food, including rice, wheat flour, beans, milk, which were sent by air to Sri Lanka.

Medical supplies

Following the immediate financial assistance offered to the international aid organisations involved with the initial aftermath of the tsunami by all of the volunteers and members of The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles New Zealand, on January 6, 2005, twenty-five boxes of medical supplies were air-freighted and accompanied by a semi-retired general practitioner who lost family members in Sri Lanka from the Tsunami. These boxes contained swabs, bandages, syringes, needles, gowns and foil containers.

The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles Canada immediately offered twelve boxes of medical supplies to the Sri Lankan Government. A further thirty-two boxes of clothing were shipped via a sea container, and US$30,000 of medical supplies were transported by air to Colombo and given to a Canadian Sri Lankan organisation.

Medical supplies

From Switzerland seventy-two boxes of medical supplies valued at US$10,120 were offered to a local Buddhist temple, where they were included in a sea container destined for Sri Lanka.

Antibiotics, assorted pharmaceuticals, three pallets of bandage material, surgery tools, blankets and tents

The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles Austria arranged for the shipment of antibiotics, assorted pharmaceuticals, three pallets of bandage material, surgery tools, blankets and tents to the value US$40,600 on January 21, 2005.

Sutures, suture needles and disposable medical devices

The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles Germany organised a shipment of sutures, suture needles, disposable medical devices and splints to a value of US$ 43,000, which was transported free of charge to a branch of the Sri Lankan Government on the 13th and 18th January 2005.

Clothes, kitchenware, toys and school supplies

In January, The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles Slovenia arranged for the transportation of twelve boxes of clothes, kitchenware, toys and school supplies to a humanitarian organisation in Sri Lanka.

The boxing day tsunami

In response to the Boxing Day Tsunami disaster, The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles offices in Australia, The Netherlands and Hong Kong coordinated the airfreight delivery of 500kg of surgical gloves valued at US$10,000 from Sydney to Colombo, Sri Lanka, in January 2005. The gloves are to be used in hospitals and local field stations to counter the transmission of infection.

Clowns performances in Sri Lanka

Following the tsunami, 600 school children sent paintings and messages of encouragement from 32 schools in Kazakhstan, expressing their affection and offering their friendship to the children of Sri Lanka.

The paintings and messages were sent in January 2005 to the children in a newly built orphanage.
