In August 2006 a German relief organisation received a large box with sutures and suture needles (value 13,643 US$) from the German branch of The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles.

The suture material went to the Mekane Hiwot Hospital in city of Asmara, Eritrea. 100 -150 specialised German doctors per year go on a regular base to the Mekane Hiwotto Hospital operate children - many with burns - for free.
