Help for Ghana

The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles served the Mother and Child Community Development Foundation, a humanitarian organization led by the First Lady of Ghana, together with the leaders of Parliament from several parties and local NGOs, in a unique and fruitful partnership between national government and civil society with a focus on treating Buruli, a terrible disease that affects tens of thousands of children in Ghana and other parts of western Africa. The disease destroys the skin and soft connective tissue of the body and causes unimaginable suffering to the patients as well as their families.

The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles implemented findings from the World Health Organization’s latest study concerning the treatment of Buruli; shipments of large amounts of the two antibiotics recommended for treating the disease, rifampicin and streptomycin, were sent.
The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles also sent four large containers full of medical and surgical supplies to serve needy communities in Ghana.

  • Four sea containers of hospital beds, medical supplies, educational materials, computers, medical technology sent between 2004 and 2006.
  • Large air shipments of antibiotics streptomycin and rifampicin sent to the Mother and Child Community Development Foundation in Ghana to treat Buruli Ulcer.
